Overview

Mountain Climbing in Rizan

The Rizan mountain with a height of 3533 meters is located in the North-East part of Tehran, Alborz province. Besides Rizan, four more peaks are alongside this mountain including Atash Kooh, Saka, Person, and Andar, which make an eye-catching range of mountain all together that looks like a wall. In order to get to this wall, you have to go to through Afje village. Afje is one of the villages of Lavasanat and it is located 5 km away from the North of Lavasan. Getting to this village is not easy but rather enjoyable because from a specific point, cars are not allowed to pass and you have to walk. As you get to the Havij plain, the unlimited beauty makes you blink your eyes a couple of times to make sure that you are not dreaming.

One of the most beautiful sites of Afje is the remarkable Havij plain or as locals call it, Gorchul. According to locals, The reason for this name is that this plain used to be a big field of carrot (havij). In order to get to the Rizan, you have to pass this magnificent plain. This plain is a peaceful and quiet place that gives you the opportunity to breathe the fresh air far from the noisy, crowded and polluted cities. The way to get to this peak is a little bit hard and it needs special equipment and skills of mountain climbing.

Each season offers its own special kind of beauty from the peak. However, the experts believe the most beautiful season for climbing and enjoying the marvelous view is winter. Although it needs warm clothes and extra equipment and it gets harder to get to the peak, the hardness vanishes as you get there and the enchanting beauties of plains make you forget how tired you are. You wish to sit there for hours and just enjoy the amazing landscape that nature shows you.

Words come short to explain the beauties and the fascinating views you get to see. It is simply a great experience for nature lovers and mountain climbers. Make sure to wear warm clothes in winter and have the primary equipment with you.

Erfan was the best

I had a fantastic time on this climb; it was pushing my limit but I felt well afterward. Erfan, our guide, was professional and friendly. He took us to the top and we cooked some eggs on top. OMG! It was the best omelet I have ever had.
