Mesr Desert is located in the eastern region of Isfahan province and in the heart of the central desert of Iran, Dasht-e Kavir. A small village has been formed a few hundred meters away from the sandhills where the inhabitants have mastered the skills of living in harmony with the harsh conditions of the desert.
We start our tour from Isfahan or Yazd where we take a bus to the closest city to Mesr Desert, Khur. The trip normally takes around 4.5 hours. When we arrive in the city, we will go on another one-hour journey with a car to reach the village of Mesr where we spend the next two nights in a local house.
Thanks to the short distance between the village and sandhills, you can decide on whenever you are willing to move towards the desert and easily walk to the sandhills. Not only can you enjoy exploring the desert, walking on the sandhills and appreciate the beauty of the desert sky at night, by staying in Mesr village you get to see the lifestyle of people who are leaving in the desert all year round.
Note : Extra options include off-roading, riding camels and other desert activities (some are subject to availability and need to be arranged in advance).
