Who is Shahzadeh-ye Ibrahim?
Known also as Ibrahim ibn Soleyman ibn Musa Ibn Jafar, he is the grandson of Imam Musa, the Shia’s seventh Imam. The shrine is more than 180 years old. Being built in 1984, this shrine welcomes its guests with a courtyard of evergreens. Dating back to the Qajar Dynasty, Shahzadeh-ye Ibrahim Shrine is located in the south of Kashan. Right on the Kashan to Fin Garden road, you can find Shahzadeh Ibrahim Shrine. The primary structure has been built by Khale Beigom who was one of the Fin people. As time went by, various people have decorated the structure during different eras.
The Features of Shahzadeh-ye Ibrahim Shrine
The wonderful courtyard has a European style where the painted dome in the center is glowing. Another remarkable feature of this shrine is the minarets with colorful tiles. The tiled roof is eye-catching and distinctive from far distant even on road to Fin Garden. Remarkably, the dome is made of turquoise tiles shining.
The shrine itself is marvelous and tall. They have covered the Zarih with a green velvet cloth which is a sacred feature among Shia Muslims.
Additionally, there are numerous exciting paintings on this site. The mirror works are another remark of the ingenious decorations in this shrine. In 1890, Mohammad Khan –the ruler of Kashan- ordered to decorate the shrine with delicate mirror works. The religious designs unfold a lot of Islamic stories. The wall paintings represent stories of Ashura and Imam Ali –first Shia Muslims- warriors. One is showing the story of Imam Hosein -3rd Shia Imams- holding his son’s head on his hands on the bitter war in Ashura. One another is representing the fight between Imam Hosein and Shemr.
When is the Best Time to Visit Shahzadeh-ye Ibrahim?
Like so many other religious sites in Iran, you can visit it from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. But if you want to enjoy pleasant weather in Kashan, we recommend visiting it in the evenings. There is no preferred month or season to visit Shahzadeh Ibrahim Shrine but we suggest you make your visit during May and June. In this case, not only will you be amazed by the pleasant weather but also you will get the chance to enjoy attending a rosewater distillation festival. Each year during May and June, thousands of visitors from all around the world go to Kashan to participate in this festival. As a result, you will have the chance to buy some fresh rosewater and roses which you can use both in dishes and drinks or use as a toner for your skin.
