As of October 2025, the Iran visa process has largely reverted to its previous regulations, allowing most travelers to obtain their visas through registered travel agencies and travel independently throughout Iran. Travelers are still required to provide an approximate trip plan when applying for their visa and must stay only in official registered accommodations, as staying with locals or private hosts remains prohibited.
However, US, UK, and Canadian citizens are still required to travel as part of a pre-arranged tour package with an escort guide, in compliance with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ regulations.
